According to Bloomberg, the latest report from blockchain security company CertiK shows that in the first half of 2026, a total of 52 violent "wrench attacks" (i.e., forcing victims to hand over cryptocurrency through physical threats) targeting digital asset holders were recorded globally, a 33% year-on-year increase. France alone accounted for nearly two-thirds with 33 attack cases, becoming the most severely affected country globally. The report pointed out that crypto criminals are shifting their targets from digital wallets to individual coin holders in the real world, and violent methods are becoming increasingly common.
