According to The Wall Street Journal, Coinbase sued and won against the U.S. government's crackdown on the cryptocurrency industry through "Operation Choke Point 2.0", with the SEC ordered to pay $150,000 in compensation for deleting text message evidence. The operation previously pressured banks into cutting off business relationships with legitimate cryptocurrency businesses and users. Maxine Waters, the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee, also criticized the government's practice of closing citizens' bank accounts without reason or recourse.
