TechFlow news, July 21, according to CoinDesk, Augustus, an AI-native clearing bank startup focused on payment infrastructure in the stablecoin era, announced the completion of $180 million in funding. After this round, the company's valuation reached $1 billion. The round was led by Tiger Global, with participation from Hummingbird, QED, and founders of Nubank, Ramp, Circle, and Deel, among others.
Augustus is positioned to replace the traditional correspondent banking system. Its platform is built from scratch, supporting programmable payments and 24/7 settlement. It currently provides euro clearing services through a licensed entity in Finland, with clients covering international crypto exchanges such as Kraken and financial institutions. The company received conditional approval for a U.S. OCC national bank charter in May this year, and will enable direct USD clearing upon final approval.
