Chainlink will hold its annual flagship conference, SmartCon, in Hong Kong, China at the end of October.

Chainlink, the industry-standard decentralized computing platform, recently announced it will host its annual flagship conference, SmartCon, in Hong Kong, China at the end of October. Following successful SmartCon events in New York and Barcelona in 2022 and 2023, this marks Chainlink’s first time hosting SmartCon in Asia. The event will take place at the Kerry Hotel, kicking off with a two-day Hacker House on October 28 and 29, followed by a dynamic main-stage agenda across multiple stages on October 30 and 31.

Converging DeFi & TradFi

As Chainlink’s premier conference, SmartCon 2024 focuses on the convergence of blockchain and traditional finance, bringing together leading DeFi protocols such as Aave with major global financial institutions and market infrastructure providers including Swift, Euroclear, and ANZ Bank. The audience is expected to consist of 40% Web3 professionals, 40% capital markets participants, and 20% enterprise and blockchain researchers, all engaging in discussions on key industry topics such as real-world asset tokenization, stablecoins, cross-chain interoperability, the intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain, transformation of capital markets lifecycles, and regional digital asset ecosystems.

Enhanced Speaker Lineup

Last year’s SmartCon in Barcelona attracted thousands of attendees, including Mr. Clement Chan, Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong; Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google; Mr. Hanjing Liang, Global Head of Financial Services and FinTech at InvestHK; and Qian Jiang, Director of Capital Markets and Digital Assets at Swift. This year’s speaker lineup has been further elevated, with Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov joining the global Chainlink team and over 100 leading figures from government bodies, Web3, and capital markets to deliver an exceptional program. Participants include representatives from Euroclear, Citibank, Fidelity International, Arta TechFin, OSL, Franklin Templeton, ANZ Bank, SC Ventures (Standard Chartered), Aptos Labs, Sonieum, Matrixport, and CELO.

Shaping the Future of On-Chain Finance

SmartCon 2024 is proudly supported by InvestHK for the second consecutive year, with additional conference support this year from the Hong Kong Tourism Board and the Hong Kong Department of Conference and Exhibition Promotion.

Hong Kong, as a global financial hub, serves as a gateway for international companies entering Asian markets, particularly mainland China. Its favorable business environment, legal framework, and free-market principles make it a convergence point for global capital, trade, and investment. More importantly, Hong Kong has emerged as an innovation center that actively supports crypto assets, blockchain, and Web3 development. The Hong Kong government has not only launched multiple blockchain-based pilot projects but is also building a robust regulatory framework that enables on-chain builders to drive financial innovation. The city aims to become a leader in Web3 innovation and technology, bridging mainland China with the rest of the world.

Chainlink is excited to host SmartCon in Hong Kong and looks forward to collaborating with leading industry enterprises, projects, and the broader Chainlink ecosystem to advance digital asset initiatives in Asia and contribute to global adoption—shaping the future of on-chain finance together.
