Equation News Founder: Sold approximately $7 million in storage sector put options today, believes storage sector sentiment is nearing its limit
Formula News founder Vida stated that he sold approximately $7 million worth of put options today, most of which are contracts expiring in one month. He believes that the current decline in the storage sector has reached near-extreme levels in terms of sentiment, with implied volatility of related individual stocks at historical high percentiles, while the artificial intelligence revolution and demand trends have not fundamentally changed, and therefore the current price pullback can be viewed as a 35% to 50% discount compared to one month ago.
TechFlow news, July 28: Vida, founder of Equation News, stated that she sold approximately $7 million worth of put options today, most of which are contracts expiring in one month. She believes that the current decline in the storage sector has nearly reached extreme levels in terms of sentiment, implied volatility of related individual stocks is at historical high percentiles, and the AI revolution and demand trends have not fundamentally changed; therefore, the current price correction can be seen as a 35% to 50% discount compared to one month ago.
She also added that the reason for choosing to sell put options with deeper strike prices and higher trading difficulty, rather than contracts closer to the current price, is mainly due to a lower risk preference and a tendency to obtain relatively stable premium income. Taking Micron Technology put options as an example, she stated that selling 15 put options with a strike price of $660 expiring in one month can immediately generate approximately $47,000 in premiums; if the price falls below the strike price at expiration and is exercised, she will complete the purchase at a price she considers more attractive.
