TechFlow News, July 12, according to Yonhap News Agency, industry sources revealed on Sunday that Samsung Electronics is moving to advance the production start time of its first semiconductor factory in the Yongin chip cluster to 2029, one to two years earlier than originally planned. "The early production start of the first plant will enable Samsung to respond faster to the rapidly growing global demand for AI chips," an industry official said.
Additionally, Samsung stated last month that, according to its super project investment plan, it plans to invest 2,030 trillion won (approximately $1.35 trillion) in the Pyeongtaek and Yongin semiconductor clusters, and invest 400 trillion won to build two new chip factories in Gwangju, 270 kilometers south of Seoul.
