TechFlow News, March 5: According to the Financial Times (UK), Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is attempting, at the eleventh hour, to reach an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Negotiations had broken down last week, placing the company at risk of being excluded from the military’s supply chain. Multiple informed sources indicated that Amodei has been in discussions with Dr. Heidi Shyu, the DoD’s Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, seeking consensus on contract terms governing how the Pentagon accesses Anthropic’s AI models. If a new contract is secured, the U.S. military would be able to continue using Anthropic’s technology and significantly reduce the likelihood of the company being classified as a supply-chain risk.
