South Korea's SK Telecom Invests 750 Billion Won to Establish SK Hyper, Deploying AI Data Centers

According to IT Home, South Korea's SK Telecom announced on July 23 the establishment of a wholly-owned subsidiary SK Hyper, focusing on AI data center business. SK Telecom plans to invest 750 billion won (approximately 3.453 billion yuan) into it before 2030, with an initial target of completing AI data centers with a total capacity of 5GW by 2029, and expanding to 15GW by 2035 based on market demand. In terms of construction layout, SK Hyper will prioritize building data center clusters in Ulsan, South Korea, and further expand gigawatt-level facilities in the Chungcheong region.
