TechFlow News, June 27: According to Axios, citing anonymous sources, the U.S. government is nearing a decision to allow Anthropic to restore access to its Fable 5 model. The model had been suspended due to security concerns raised by the government and has been offline for approximately 15 days.
Sources indicate that the restrictions could be lifted as early as next week. Another source added that communications between the U.S. government and Anthropic are expected to continue this weekend, with the company likely to reinstate access to Fable 5 in the near term.
Earlier, the U.S. Department of Commerce approved Anthropic’s request to restore access to its Mythos 5 model for select trusted users on Friday.
According to Semafor, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated in a letter to Anthropic that the company has collaborated with the U.S. government to address risks associated with both Mythos 5 and Fable 5, noting that “significant progress” has been made on these efforts.
The report adds that Anthropic has also committed to continued collaboration with the U.S. government on model releases, industry standards development, and related framework agreements. (Jinshi)
