TechFlow News: On April 29, according to an official announcement, Ronin—the blockchain dedicated to gaming—announced it will migrate to Ethereum Layer 2 on May 12. During the migration, on-chain operations will be suspended for approximately 10 hours; normal operations will resume once the migration is complete. The new underlying architecture will be built on the OP Stack and will integrate EigenDA as its data availability layer. Users are advised to manually unstake their RON tokens before May 12; any staked RON remaining at the time of migration will be automatically unstaked upon completion.
This migration aims to leverage Ethereum’s security, data availability, and final settlement capabilities while simultaneously introducing mature on-chain gaming infrastructure into the Ethereum ecosystem. As the foundational network for prominent on-chain games such as Axie Infinity and Pixels, this move marks a significant milestone in Ronin’s ecosystem development.
Following the migration, RON’s annual inflation rate will be reduced from over 20% to below 1%. Additionally, the treasury will gain sustainable revenue streams from staking, sequencer net profits, and marketplace fees—which will increase from 0.5% to 1.25% of total fees.
