TechFlow News, March 11: According to Cointelegraph, India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Ayush Varshney, co-founder and CTO of Darwin Labs, at Mumbai Airport this week while he was attempting to leave the country.
Darwin Labs is alleged to have provided core technical infrastructure for the GainBitcoin scam platform, including the investor platform, Bitcoin payment gateway, and wallet system. The case involves approximately 8,000 investors and an estimated loss of ₹66.06 billion (around $790 million), making it one of India’s largest cryptocurrency fraud cases. The mastermind behind the scheme, Amit Bhardwaj, died in 2022 while out on bail.
Earlier reports indicated that Indian authorities conducted raids across more than 60 locations nationwide to investigate the GainBitcoin crypto scam, with the涉案 amount totaling approximately $75.8 million.
