TechFlow News, March 5: According to CriptoNoticias, Catalan police in Spain recently dismantled an illegal Bitcoin mining operation in the Sant Vicenç de Castellet industrial zone of Barcelona. Endesa, Spain’s national electricity company, estimated that the operation illegally tapped into high-voltage power grids—bypassing meters entirely—causing electricity theft valued at €860,643, marking the largest such case in the region’s industrial sector over the past year.
During a raid on February 26, authorities seized 88 Bitcoin mining rigs. Investigations revealed the operation had been running illegally since October 2025, lacking both electricity meters and protective systems. Its hazardous three-phase electrical connections posed serious fire risks and threatened stable power supply to surrounding businesses. A 34-year-old Asian man, identified as the primary suspect, appeared before the Manresa Court on March 3 and currently faces charges of electricity theft.
