Base Discovery officially begins—Base support, co-funded by 10+ projects. Don’t wait until it’s over and regret missing the opportunity.
As long as you complete the Booth task for any project, you become eligible to share in the total reward pool.
Author: City Protocol
Event Period: April 7, 2026, 10:00 EST – April 21, 2026, 10:00 EST
Entry: Viral City → City Rewards
The most valuable joint incentive campaign in the Base ecosystem this year.
Today, City Protocol officially launched the Base Discovery campaign on Base App. This is not a solo task campaign run by some small project—it’s a large-scale, jointly funded incentive initiative backed by over 10 Base ecosystem projects—and it has received direct support from Base itself.
As everyone knows, Base doesn’t endorse just anyone.
First, take a look at the participating lineup: Brett, Upshot, City Protocol, Anichess, Heurist, Axis, O1 Exchange, AWE Network, OmenX, Billions, and Coinhero. These are all live, production-ready projects actively operating within the Base ecosystem—not the “scratch teams” commonly seen over the past two years.
Why should you start now? The window is only 14 days long—and participation remains low so far. Early-mover advantages need no further explanation.

I. How does the reward mechanism work? Understand this key point first.
The core design of this campaign features a dual-layer structure: a shared prize pool + individual project bonuses.
Let me clarify the most important thing upfront: You become eligible for the shared prize pool as soon as you complete tasks for *any single* participating project’s Booth. Yes—you’re already in the pool even if you only complete tasks for one project.
This shared prize pool is jointly funded by Base and all 10+ participating projects—its value speaks for itself. Naturally, the more projects you engage with, the larger your share of the pool. So the optimal strategy remains: do as many as possible—but the entry threshold is genuinely low. One is enough to qualify.
Beyond the shared pool, each project offers its own independent bonus—stacked on top of your share from the main pool. In other words, completing tasks for one project earns you two rewards: your share of the shared pool + that project’s individual bonus.
For example, individual project bonuses are roughly as follows: Brett contributed $1,000 worth of BRETT tokens (to be distributed among the Top 300), City Protocol directly allocated $5,000 worth of future CP tokens, Anichess offered $5,000 worth of CHECK tokens, Heurist reserved $300 in HEU tokens for 10 lucky users, Upshot is giving away 50 Packs plus 5,000 XP, Billions offers up to 1,000 Power Bonus points, and Coinhero is running a $50 Pack raffle. Axis, O1 Exchange, AWE Network, and OmenX also each have their own Mindshare reward mechanisms.
In short: Over a dozen projects are collectively funding your participation—and Base is backing them. This scale is unprecedented in the Base ecosystem.
II. Why is this timing so pivotal?
If you’ve been following the Base ecosystem, you know the entire market is waiting for one thing: When will the Base token launch?
In September 2025, Base’s leadership publicly announced they were exploring the launch of a native network token—a significant shift in tone, given Coinbase’s prior stance had consistently been “no token.” While no official timeline has been released, market consensus expects the token launch to occur between Q2 and Q4 of 2026.
J.P. Morgan’s research team estimates the Base token could boost Coinbase’s equity valuation by up to $34 billion—a massive figure underscoring how seriously Wall Street views the Base token prospect.
What does this mean? It means building on-chain activity records and community contributions within the Base ecosystem *now* could directly impact your eligibility for future Base token benefits. Base Discovery provides exactly such a low-barrier, high-visibility entry point. Every task you complete, every project you follow, every post you publish—leaves an immutable trace on-chain.
III. Step-by-step guide to participation
Now comes the most critical part—I’ll walk you through it in detail so you can simply follow along.
Step 1: Access the event page
Open your Base App (mobile) and navigate directly to the Viral City event page:
If you haven’t downloaded the Base App yet, search “Base” in your app store. Registration is simple—you can sign up via email or your Coinbase account. Once inside, you’ll land on the Base App home screen with a navigation bar at the bottom.
After entering Viral City, locate the City Rewards section, find the Base Discovery event banner, and tap to enter.

Step 2: Understand the main event page layout
Once inside Base Discovery, you’ll see Booths (exhibition booths) for all participating projects. Each project has its own Booth, containing specific tasks set by that project. You’ll also see the event countdown timer and your current points/ranking status.
You can think of each Booth as a project’s “booth”—just walk in and complete the tasks.
Step 3: Select a project Booth and complete tasks
Tap any project’s Booth to enter. Inside, you’ll see the specific tasks required by that project. Task types vary across projects but generally fall into two categories:
Follow-based tasks: e.g., follow that project’s Base App account. Simplest of all—just one tap.
Interaction-based tasks: e.g., like, comment on, or repost one of that project’s posts. Some may ask you to publish an original post about them on Base App using a designated hashtag.
Each completed task displays a clear status indicator, confirming whether it was successfully recorded. We recommend verifying the status after each task—don’t risk spending time only to find it wasn’t logged.

Step 4: Do as many as possible—the more, the better
As noted earlier, completing tasks for just one Booth qualifies you for the shared prize pool—but your share grows proportionally with the number of Booths you complete. So if time permits, aim to complete tasks for all 11 participating projects.
Here’s a recommended order—start simple:
Begin with Booths requiring only follows and likes—these take minutes. Then tackle Booths requiring original posts—spend time crafting thoughtful, unique content (avoid copy-pasting identical lines across posts; it’s easily flagged as invalid). Finally, handle Booths requiring on-chain interactions—these may require wallet connection, so ensure your wallet holds a small amount of ETH on Base for gas (Base gas fees are extremely low—typically just a few cents).
Step 5: Track your ranking and points
After completing tasks, return to the Base Discovery homepage to view your points and ranking. Some project bonuses are ranked-based (e.g., Brett’s $1,000 BRETT distribution is limited to the Top 300), so monitor your position within each Booth’s leaderboard if you want to claim those specific bonuses.
Check back frequently during the event—some projects may update tasks or add extra rewards mid-campaign.
Step 6: Bonus optimization
Beyond Booth tasks, your original posts about these projects on Base App also affect your Mindshare score. Mindshare is City Protocol’s core metric on the Virality Leaderboard—essentially measuring your “attention contribution” to the ecosystem.
So to maximize returns, don’t just complete tasks and leave. Engage authentically on Base App—discuss these projects, share your real experiences, and publish insightful content. All such activity is tracked by the Virality Leaderboard and positively impacts your overall reward allocation.
Quick summary of participation flow
Open Base App → Enter Viral City → City Rewards → Base Discovery → Select and complete Booth tasks → More Booths = larger share → Monitor ranking and points → Post relevant content on Base App to boost Mindshare → Wait for rewards distribution after the event ends on April 21.
The process requires minimal financial investment—mainly your time. Gas fees on Base are negligible. What’s truly scarce is your attention—and this 14-day window.
IV. Where is the Base ecosystem today?
A quick overview of Base’s 2026 initiatives—to help contextualize why acting now matters.
Base’s 2026 strategy focuses on three pillars: expanding on-chain markets (including tokenized assets), advancing stablecoin payments, and growing the developer ecosystem. Specifically, Base will support tokenized trading of equities and commodities while enhancing crypto-native products like perpetual contracts and prediction markets.
As one of Ethereum’s most active L2s since its 2023 launch, Base already boasts $3.85 billion in TVL. In February 2026, it announced plans to gradually migrate away from Optimism’s OP Stack toward proprietary infrastructure—with the goal of increasing major annual upgrades to roughly six per year.
These signals together indicate Base is now in a pivotal expansion phase. Participating in ecosystem activities and accumulating on-chain data at this stage carries clear strategic value.
Closes April 21—14 days total. Link is here. The rest is up to you: Enter Base Discovery
